A Day in Cannes

In the middle of May I went to the south of France and spent one day in the beautiful city of Cannes during the film festival. This was my first time in Cannes, the weather was beautiful and the city definietely had a special vibe of the ongoing festival.

Once off the train we headed down to La Croisette, which is the beach promenade in Cannes. The promenade was packed with well-dressed people from the film festival and tourists. The weather was lovely this day with sunshine but a bit windy.

When you walk around the Croisette you don’t really see the beach because it is filled with different restaurants and beach clubs. We had lunch at a place called Long Beach Cannes which was nice. I took a yummy pizza and a glas of rosé. Next to us was an Australian movie director with his family that we started chatting to a bit, this is the interesting part of the city if you go here during the film festival because there are a lot of directors, producers etc. from all over the world.

Afterwards we spent a couple of hours laying on the beach and swimming in the clear water, it was not very warm in the sea though probably around 16 C. We went to the public beach which was really nice but all restaurants along the promenade have private beaches as well, but you need to pay for a sun chair there which is about 15 Euros.

Before getting ready for the evening we passed by the famous red carpet but unfortunately we could not spot any celebrities at this moment.

In the night we went out to a club/restaurant called Baioli Cannes. A Dj called Black Coffee was playing here this evening and I was quite excited because I heard he should be very good but never had the chance to see him play before. We had a great evening here! The Dj he really was super and the place was beautiful, I really liked the décor and I found the bartenders to be nice. Even though the entrance is free the place is pricey though, I think we paid about 20 Euros for one drink.
