In June I went to the southwestern part of France to spend a couple of relaxing days by the sea with a friend. We booked an Airbnb in Seignosse which is just next to Hossegor. Seignosse is the calmer cousin and there are not as much nightlife here, but if you want to relax with a beautiful beach and some good restaurants, this place is perfect! The long, sandy beaches that are stretching along the whole coast are just amazing.
Where to Eat
Les Mets d’Alice
20 Pl. de Castille, 40510 Seignosse
This place has a lovely terrace with a beautiful view of the sand dunes and beach walk. It was my favourite place in Seignosse and has a nice mixed menu with lots of seafood and good drinks. I would definetely recommend this restaurant but it is very popular so if you go there for dinner on the weekend make sure you book before.
Le Rayon Vert
This restaurant is located right next to Les Mets d’Alice and owned by a group surfers. We went here for a lunch and it was really nice with big portions. Sometimes during the weekend this place turns into more of a bar/club with dj later in the evening.
Chill Burger
This place is more of a fastfood place, we did takeout but there are also some wooden tables you can sit at if you want. I ordered a burger and I was surprised by how tasty it was!! Definetely one of the top burgers I had in my life. It does not beat the Fergburger in Queenstown, NZ still but it also more affordable and if you fance in a burger while in Seignosse you should definetely check it out!
What to Do
Rent a Bike
We rented bikes and did a day tour to Hossegor and I would highly recommend it! There are lots of roads for bikes which makes it easy to go around and there are very beautiful roads. You can either bike next to the sand dunes and check out the different beaches or you can also bike around the lake where there are lots of beautiful houses. There are several places to rent bikes in Seignosse for a good price.
Horse Riding
We went horserding here in Seignosse and it was a wondeful experience. Most of the ride was in the forest but a part of it was on the beach and that was truly amazing!
Try Surfing
This is the place to go surfing in France! We never did it in the end but I am already thinking about taking a surf lesson next time I am here. There are so many different surf schools to choose from so if you are curious to try surfing do not hesitate while you are here.
Picknic by the beach
The sunsets here are beautiful and what better way to enjoy it than to have a picknic by the beach. The first evening we arrived we went to the store and bought some baguette, cheese, sallad and wine. We brought everything to the beach and had a lovely little picknic, the sky was clear and the sunset was just magnificent!
Good to Know
Be aware that there are not many taxis around in this area. We were quite surprised to find out that Uber is non-existing and if you need a taxi to go somewhere be prepared to book days ahead.
