Barcelona

I went to Barcelona for the first time and here you can read my tips for the city. I really enjoyed my time here, Barcelona is a young vibrant city with many restaurants and bars as well beautiful streets. Simply there are lots of things to do and discover here! Find below my suggestion for restaurants, bars and activities to do when you are in the Catalan capital.

Where to Eat

Boca Grande Restaurant
Passatge de la Concepció, 12, 08008 Barcelona

Loved this restaurant! It is a chic and trendy place with a beautiful decor. The food was delicious and overall a great experience with very good service. I also had one of my favourite desserts EVER here. I do not remember the name of it but it was round and looked exactly like a moon. Inside it had several layers of chocolate mousse, a whiskey cream and other delicious stuff… honestly I still dream about it!

Ikibana
Passeig de Picasso, 32, 08003 Barcelona

A Japanese/Brazilian fusion restaurant with a good cocktail list. We took one of the tasting menu’s to try a few different dishes. Everything was very tasty the only issue was that it was sooo much food, we could not even finish all of it. If you are two people I would suggest going for the cheaper tasting menu which includes less dishes, unless you are extremely hungry.

Brunch & Cake
Carrer d’Enric Granados, 19, 08007 Barcelona

As the name implies this is the perfect brunch place. The food is tasty and very instagram friendly. This is a quite popular place and you cannot reserve a table so be prepared to wait in line especially if you plan on going during a weekend.

Kibo
Passeig del Taulat, 279C Local bajo C, 08019 Barcelona

This is also a good brunch restaurant! It is situated in an area closer to the beach and there are many tables to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine while you are eating.

Demasié
Carrer de la Princesa, 28, 08003 Barcelona

If you like sweets you have to stop by this lovely bakery. There are so many delicious cinnamon rolls and cookies to choose from, making it very difficult to leave this place without a filled box.

Where to drink

Boca Chica
Passatge de la Concepció, 12, 08008 Barcelona

This bar located on the same address as the Boca Grande restaurant but the bar is situated upstairs. This is definitely my favourite bar in Barcelona! The cocktails, the ambiance, the music, the design, everything is amazing! It is quite pricey though drinks starting from 15 Euros but in my opinion it is worth it.

Paradiso
Carrer de Rera Palau, 4, 08003 Barcelona

This bar is on the list of the best 50 bars in the world! Be prepared for amazing, creative cocktails but also to be waiting in line to enter as this is a very popular place.

Marlowe Bar
Carrer del Rec, 24, 08003 Barcelona

A small, cute bar with lovely cocktails.

What To Do

Parc Güell

This was one of the highlights on my trip, unfortunately we were not too lucky with the weather though but the parc was still beautiful despite the rain! Definitely worth visiting but in case the sky is gray make sure to bring an umbrella, just in case.

The Beach

Barcelona is one of those lucky cities that also has a beach, make sure you check it out! If it is sunny and warm enough a day at the beach is always a nice break. I was surprised by how many people are playing volleyball at the beaches in Barcelona, seems to be quite the thing over here! If you are into surfing or would like to try, there seems to be many possibilities.

Gaudi’s Houses

There are three houses that Gaudi created in Barcelona; Casa Batlló, Casa Mila and Casa Vicens. All of these buildings are all very unique and impressive. It is possible to purchase a ticket to visit inside. I did not have time on my last trip but is already on my to do list for my next time in Barcelona!

Rooftop Drinks

Who does not enjoy a nice drink with a view? I always love it, especially during a warm summer afternoon/evening. There are many rooftops in Barcelona some that are parts of hotel are only available for hotel guests though. We went to Hotel Colón which offers an amazing view over the cathedral, only downside is that we had to wait in line for over an hour to be able to access the rooftop.
